January 2026 Music Booster Meeting Report

  • We voted to extend the current Fruit-Coffee-Chocolate fundraiser by a week, with sales ending January 23 and delivery happening on February 9. We have found that it is a challenge to get everyone motivated to sell during and immediately after the Holiday break, so this gives students a bit more time to get out there and make their pitch to family, friends, and the community. REMINDER: Sales are all done ONLINE HERE.
  • We had a discussion on student rewards for top sellers, with MS teachers to discuss a reward of some sort for their students, and HS students likely getting gift cards. Reel Pizza was likely the go-to for student rewards, although other ideas were mentioned in the meeting. Teachers will distribute more info on this soon.
  • The Sea Winds Jazz Ensemble’s performance before the break was a highlight for all students who saw the show. And it was a great experience for the Middle School students from Tremont, Bar Harbor, and MDES who performed in the evening. This event is a springboard for a new Honors District-Wide Junior High Jazz Ensemble (The Waves), featuring 7th- and 8th-graders from all schools. It will be run by the professional artists from the Sea Winds Jazz Ensemble (The Navigators). If all goes well, this new ensemble will perform at the Island Jazz Night at the HS on March 10 (or on the snow date, March 11).
  • New MUSIC LESSON VOUCHERS will be printed and distributed before February. We will reach out to teachers in order to get feedback on how many vouchers they may need.
  • We are looking for Music Booster representation from all Middle Schools. We currently have 4 booster members. Six would be ideal to ensure representatives from all schools in the district. We currently do not have any representation from Pemetic or MDES.

Many other things were discussed and decided at the meeting. Our next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, February 4 at 5:00 in the MDIHS Music Room. You are welcome to attend!
